The daughters of a woman who died in a California nursing home are suing the facility after the state found it failed to monitor the woman while she was on medication. Maria Tirado dies while on the anti-coagulant Coumadin, and the state fined the nursing home $94,000 for failing to monitor Tirado despite orders from her physician.

Tirado died Jan. 18, after suffering from massive bleeding on the brain and excessive anti-coagulation levels.

The state found no records of any lab tests at the La Jolla Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Tirado's daughters hope that through the lawsuit they will find some answers.

"Their first concern is to determine how this was allowed to occur and to find the individuals and corporations that were responsible for not having a process that would prevent this kind of a death."
